I recall as a child, I was promised hovercrafts, flying cars, lightsabers, and sophisticated computer interfaes. I shall know when the future is really here, due to X factors. 1 - Flying cars. This is obvious, being exploited by everything from the Jetsons to Fifth Element. 2 - Lightsabers. This tech is coming soon. You can't have this many sci-fi geeks in real jobs without coming into a lightsaber...they all want them, and now they have the government funding to achieve them. 3 - MOST IMPORTANTLY - computer interfaces seen in such movies as "Hackers," and, more recently, "Minority Report." When these things are achieved, I will acknowledge the future as actually being here, as opposed to being a lame "carrot-on-a-stick" that the modern word can dangle infront of us, the general-level consumer. Until tht day, I say FUCK YOU, BIG BUSINESS!
